Matrix Revolutions

LIKES:
The action was good, all the things in the previews, like the gazillion Agent Smiths and Neo fighting in the rainy street was a rad scene, and the effects in that scene were pretty good, though a little repetitive. The Mechwarrior-esque APU's that they used to defend Zion were awesome, though I would have done a couple things different with them, but that is unimportant.

For those who do not, the actress playing Oracle in the first two Matrix movies, passed away between the filming of "Reloaded" and "Revolutions," and the writers/directors had to rewrite the story in "Revolutions" that would explain why there is a new woman playing Oracle. My personal belief is that this added to the realization of the purpose of and how to escape the Matrix. Because Oracle (which you have probably noticed I do not place "the" in front of, because in the movie they say Oracle as her name) is transformed, or physically replaced, but her spirit/soul/mind/etc. continue on, it becomes obvious that you will not be destroyed by making the wrong choice. Neo also makes a choice, in "Reloaded" to save Trinity, but he is not punished because he also accomplishes the other side of his ultimate choice.

In "Revolutions" Trinity dies and Neo decides to continue on to save Zion by going to the Machine City. It is unclear at the end if Neo dies or not, but we are supposed to assume he has been killed or died due to drainage from his encounter with the mainframe computer for the Matrix. The Architect does not tell us whether or not is is all over, but he admits that he is not human and we are led to believe that he will not rest though the Matrix seems to be destroyed. My take on that is simple. Remembering what the Architect said to Neo in the TV-filled room in "Reloaded," I believe that Neo is simply Savior Victim #6, and there will be a new Savior in the future of the Matrix. I hope that they do not make another movie or trilogy to follow this one in the next decade. If there is a reason to continue the story, I hope that they wait a long time, so that they can fully understand what the world thinks and believes about this original trilogy.

DISLIKES:
I do not like that I was suckered into seeing a duo of chick flicks after watching the original "Matrix" movie. That movie was packed with action and interesting sci-fi effects, technology, and fantasy-driven ideology. Then there was a movie with a love story. Within that love story, there was a need to save a city and a loved one-not once, but twice. There are also a couple other love stories going on, Zee and Link, Niobe and Morpheus (though it isn't physical, it is a rekindling appreciation of their past flame). It is also the story of the young trainee, who is nameless as far as anyone I know can recollect. He is set up as a hero in "Revolutions" because he has to try to open Gate 3 and allow Niobe's ship into Zion without crashing. This is a story that I do not dislike, but I think that it just adds to the sappiness of parts of the movie, otherwise I would like it.

OTHER:
There are also a few mistakes I have a problem with. The length of Niobe's hair changed too much for the amount of time that has gone by. That young trainee says in "Reloaded" that he will be old enough to join the crew of the Nebuchadnezzar next year. In "Revolutions" he is only 16, and they say that you must be 18 to join the crew. I will add to this as I think of it and I will edit it if people prove me wrong or change my mind :)

Feel free to leave notes about suggested changes, disagreements, and all other praises for my perfect and flawless opinions. ;)
